Senior Sustainability Advisor | Vinmonopolet
Sasha-Monique Elvik is a passionate advocate for sustainable supply chains and the promotion of fair working conditions. Joining Vinmonopolet in 2017 for what was initially a short-term project, Sasha quickly immersed herself in the company’s mission to foster better labour practices among farmers. Her commitment and expertise saw her role expand into a full-time position, where she spearheaded initiatives aimed at encouraging dialogue, capacity building, and improved working conditions throughout the supply chain.Â
Since 2018, Sasha has been a vocal proponent of addressing issues such as heat stress in agricultural settings. Collaborating with other Nordic alcohol monopolies, Vinmonopolet has been actively involved in sponsoring training programs in partnership with organizations like Bonsucro and La Isla Network. These efforts have not only focused on auditing practices but also on facilitating meaningful conversations and implementing practical solutions to enhance worker well-being.Â
At the upcoming Bonsucro Global Week, Sasha will bring her unique perspective as a retailer to discussions surrounding regulatory Human Rights Due Diligence requirements. She will share insights into Vinmonopolet’s commitment to supporting and requiring initiatives that promote water, rest, shade, and sanitation in agricultural settings. Additionally, Vimonopolet will be launching a consultation period, aimed at refining and enhancing the Nordic Alcohol monopolues approach to responsibly sourcing rum.
