Senior International Labor Advisor for Trade Policy | U.S. Department of Labor

Ryan Carrington is a Senior International Labor Advisor for Trade Policy at the U.S. Department of Labor, where he implements the labour provisions of U.S. free trade agreements in the Americas, Middle East, and North Africa. He works extensively on labour due diligence agricultural and garment supply chains, bringing together governments, the private sector, workers, and civil society organisations to more effectively meet and exceed international and local labour standards.  

 Ryan received his BA in International Relations from Stanford University, conducting field research on refugees and political stability in the Middle East, and teaching English in rural Panama. He holds a Masters of Public Policy from Georgetown University, with a concentration in international development policy. His thesis centred on the impact of conditional cash transfers on marginalised communities in Mexico, and he studied comparative agricultural policy and social entrepreneurship through an exchange with the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, India. In his free time, Ryan is a father of two and outdoor enthusiast who volunteers with programmes that aim to increase the urban tree canopy and improve access to quality, nutritious food for communities in urban food deserts.  Â
