David moved to Japan in 2017 to join Spiber Inc., a biotechnology company that produces Brewed Protein materials through a fermentation process using sugars and microbes. These nature-inspired protein polymers present alternative solutions across a broad spectrum of conventional animal-based, plant-based, and synthetic materials, including applications in textile production for the apparel industry. David has played a pivotal role in Spiber’s Chain of Custody certification efforts and supplier outreach for its fermentation facility in Thailand.
He will share Spiber’s story and the role of Bonsucro in ensuring supply chains align with the sustainability promises of this new generation of bio-based materials.Â
