Sofia Arantes is a researcher at Agroicone and biofuel specialist in sustainable agriculture, the sugarcane industry, renewable energy, sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), land use change and climate change. She works with economic modelling (partial and general equilibrium models) to support biofuel discussions.Â
Sofia has more than seven years’ experience working with bioenergy policies (RenovaBio, CORSIA, LCFS, RFS, RED) and with multidisciplinary projects supported by multilateral agencies such as World Bank, Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), WWF, and others. Currently, Sofia is a member of Fuels task Group (FTG) of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (ICAO/CORSIA) in Land Use.Â
Sofia has a bachelor’s in Economics and International Affairs and a master’s in Energy Planning from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), where she is also a PhD candidate in Energy Planning. Â
