Ruth Ascencio is Head of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean at Bonsucro, and joined in March 2023. She looks after our members across the region and is responsbile for developing a strategy to maximise Bonsucro’s impact.

Ruth has more than 20 years of experience in the food industry, mainly in training and advising agro-industrial companies about their management systems.

In 2012 she began working with the sugar industry, resulting in the first Bonsucro certified mill in Central America.

Since then, Ruth has supported the implementation of sustainable practices in the sugarcane sector in Mexico and Central America while helping different organisations like WWF and Coca Cola to meet their sustainability goals through the communication of sustainable practices.

She was also part of the Bonsucro Standard Revision Working Group.
