Dr. Alexandre Alonso Alves is the General Chief of the National Centre for Research in Agroenergy – Embrapa Agroenergia, one of the main Brazilian research centers in bioenergy, biofuels, bioproducts and bioeconomics, together with public and private partners. Additionally, he serves as the Planning and Business Coordinator of the Brazilian industrial research and innovation company Embrapii, in its Renewable Biochemistry Unit. 

He actively participates as a guest member on several government and private committees related to bioenergy. He teaches Plant Genetics, Plant Biotechnology and Agroenergy at some of the most prestigious Brazilian universities, such as FGV and UFLA, and has extensive experience in leading research and innovation teams. He also actively participates as a speaker at events in Brazil, USA, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
