Andy Church is the Technology and Innovations Manager at SA Canegrowers based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. His current projects include carbon sequestration, Greenhouse Gas emission reductions and a Cane Juice Production Project looking at various certifications and the impact these could have on cane growers.  

Andy is an Agricultural Specialist with over 25 years -experience and an in-depth knowledge and understanding of agri-business, particularly in Africa and the Central Americas. Previously, he managed new development projects ranging from 700ha rainfed agriculture and up to 25 000ha irrigated sugarcane. Recently, Andy was team leader for a project for climate resilience and sugar value chain opportunities for farmers in Belize, as part of a submission for funding with the Green Climate Fund. 

Andy has a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Economics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg and a National Diploma of Real Estate (Property Valuation) from Technicon – SA. He has worked in over 20 countries in Africa, Asia and Central America. Andy plays hockey, representing KZN Masters and enjoys trail running in his spare time.
