Aleyda Carrillo Bustamante joined Bonsucro in May 2022 as Director of Standards and Assurance. She has previously worked in industries such as flowers, coffee, cocoa, palm, tea and bananas, now adding sugarcane to that extensive list.  

Before joining Bonsucro, Aleyda spent 12 years working for UTZ and Rainforest Alliance, two supported standard setting organisations. She mainly worked in the Standards and Assurance Department, developing standards and improving the assurance systems, but also has experience with project management, good agricultural practices, social issues, assurance, training, and risk identification and management. 

Aleyda’s background is in agricultural engineering, which she studied in Colombia, before moving to The Netherlands and completing a master’s in international agriculture. She speaks Spanish, English, Dutch and some French.
